*** THIS IS AN UNOFFICIAL SECOND LIFE VIEWER RELEASE *** DISCLAIMER: This viewer is the Second Life Viewer, Unofficial Able Edition, created by Able Whitman. It is based on the official 1.18.0.6 release, but it has several new features included. It also may contain several new bugs as well, although I have worked hard to minimize any potential problems caused by my changes. If you experience problems with the Able edition of the viewer, please DO NOT CONTACT LINDEN LAB. They will not be able to help you, since this is not an official viewer release. Instead, please contact me, Able Whitman, either inworld via IM, or via email at "able.whitman@gmail.com". Please carefully review the release notes below, especially the "Known issues" section, so that you are aware of known bugs in this test release. Thank you! Release Notes for Second Life Able Edition 1.18.0(41572) July 18, 2007 ===================================== Changes: * Alpha level of visibly muted objects is now configurable ** Change the debug setting "MuteVisiblyMaxAlpha" ** Requires a viewer restart to fully take effect * It is now possible to view the profile of muted residents from the mute list * Improvements to the unmuting of parcels with large numbers of objects * Trees, plants, and grass (like the pervasive "Eric Linden" trees) are now muted as well Bug Fixes: * Fixed a bug that sometimes prevented parcels from being fully muted * Muted parcels containing explicitly visibly muted objects now behave properly when unmuted * The mute list remembers the last object muted even when filter selections change * Parcel mute serialization code will now work on big-endian architectures * VWR-1735: Directly interacting with a muted resident should unmute them Known Issues: * For parcels with many objects (hundreds or even thousands), it may take some time after unmuting the parcel before all objects within that parcel are visible again ** This problem is exacerbated if you are experiencing high packet loss ** A workaround is to teleport away from the muted parcel, and then teleport back * See also known issues for build 41571 Release Notes for Second Life Able Edition 1.18.0(41571) July 12, 2007 ===================================== Breaking Changes: * Migrated visiblity muting patch from 1.17.x to 1.18.0.6 Bug fixes: * Fixed bug where parcels would occasionally become unmuted after login or teleport * Fixed by-name mutes so they work again * Fixed parcel menu not displaying "unmute" for parcels already muted * Fixed Mute List not being displayed after muting parcel or objects from Client > Rendering > Mute Visibility * Fixed minor spelling errors in pie menus * Fixed naming of parcel mutes so they always include at least a partial region name and complete x/y coords * Fixed naming of unnamed object mutes to always include the object ID Changes: * Moved visiblity muting menu items from Client > Rendering to their own submenu * Revamped the Mute List floater ** Now allows filtering by mute type (settings persist between sessions) ** When new mutes are added, automatically selects the most recent mute in the list ** Added a "Highlight" button to highlight muted objects, or objects in muted parcels ** Added an "Automatically highlight" option to automatically highlight objects (not parcels) when selected * Changed branding and labeling of the Able Edition to be much more explicit that this is an unofficial release ** Using the wording "Unofficial Able Edition" consistently ** Changed the name of the distribution channel of the browser ** Changed the color of the menu bar Known issues: * The Able edition only supports English language installs at this time. * Parcels in regions with longer names will have the region name truncated in the Mute List * Muting individual objects will sometimes result in a "No Name" entry in the Mute List ** This occurs if the object selected is muted before the viewer has a chance to discover its name *** As a workaround, right-click on the object and choose "Edit...". When the object name appears in the "General" tab, Mute the object again. ** This also occurs if the object selected is in a different region from the user *** As a workaround, enter the region where the object is located before muting it * When muting non-rectangular parcels, any object within the smallest bounding rectangle for that parcel will also be muted, even if those objects do not fall within the muted parcel ** This is a limitation of the mechanism used to mute parcels; as a workaround, select individual objects and visibly mute them individually. * After adding visible object and parcel mutes, using the official SL viewer will result in odd entries in the Mute List ** This is a side-effect of how the Able Edition viewer stores information about visibly muted objects on the server. Since the official viewer doesn't understand what to do with these mute entries, it displays them as-is. While these extra entries look odd, they are harmless. Note that if you delete them, then visible mutes you added with the Able edition will be lost. Release Notes for Second Life Able Edition 1.17.2(41570) July 2, 2007 ===================================== Changes: * First test release of "Mute Visibility" feature (see VWR-1017) * New Mute List UI ** allows filtering by mute type (object, resident, parcel) ** adds the ability to highlight muted objects / parcels when selected ** when a new mute is added, the new entry in the mute list is selected Bug fixes: * SVC-235: Muting an object should mute all the prims in the linkset ** affects both normal and visible mutes Bug fixes by Others (from JIRA): * VWR-1203: Avatars eyes are constantly crossing in 1.17 (Gigs Taggart) * VWR-1225: Embedded notecards not functioning (Gigs Taggart) * VWR-1354: Possible crash in lldrawpool (Nicholaz Beresford) * VWR-1418: Progressive memory consumption (leak) since 1.17.1 (Nicholaz Beresford) * VWR-1420: IM in chat history is rendered nearly unreadbale now in 1.17.2.0 - color not changeable (Thraxis Epsilon ) * VWR-1434: Null pointer crash when terraforming (Gigs Taggart) * VWR-1436: Possible crash when ending program (and probably through runtime on laggy conditions) when destroying LLEventPoll (Nicholaz Beresford) * VWR-1465: Viewer crash after taking several hi-res snapshots (EponymousDylan Ra) * SVC-371: Fix the legibility and grammar/consistency of the new llOwnerSay implementation (Thraxis Epsilon) Known issues: * The Able edition only supports English language installs at this time. * The Land pie menu does not properly display "Unmute Parcel" if the selected parcel is already muted. * Sometimes a muted parcel becomes unmuted after a re-log, even though it is still listed in the Mute List. ** As a workaround, select the parcel again and pick "Unmute Parcel" to remove it from the list, and then "Mute Parcel" again to re-mute it. ** This also occurs if the object selected is in a different region from the user *** As a workaround, enter the region where the object is located before muting it * Sometimes one or more prims in a muted linkset will appear unmuted ** As a workaround, right-click the object to highlight it, and then de-select it. After de-selecting the object, it should appear muted again. * When muting non-rectangular parcels, any object within the smallest bounding rectangle for that parcel will also be muted, even if those objects do not fall within the muted parcel ** This is a limitation of the mechanism used to mute parcels; as a workaround, select individual objects and visibly mute them individually.
